What Is the Period of Restoration in Cyber Insurance?

The period of restoration is the window a business interruption claim covers: from when a cyber incident interrupts your operations until they are restored to substantially pre-incident levels. According to Indiana’s cyber insurance toolkit glossary, this period is often capped around 30 days in many policies, though some extend to 3, 6, or 12 months.

Many policies also add an extended period of indemnity afterward, commonly 30 to 180 days, to cover the ramp-up period after systems come back online. See Business Interruption Claims After a Cyber Incident for the full picture.
